Additional Comments: Another bad-tempered local derby, but at least with this one the Lions came out on top! Most of the penalties were for Roughing or Unsportsman-Like Conduct, Romford’s David Smith being the worst by earning himself a total of 11+Game. The final score could have ended up 11-6, if it were not for a goal being disallowed at 333:50, when it was judged a player was in the crease. The Lions scored two Power Play goals and one Short-Handed goal, while Romford scored three Power Play goals. Lee Saunders only arrived with the club the day before and did well to receive the Man of the Match award on his first game. (Lee Saunders died a few years later in a motor accident) Referee was Dadswell, Linesmen were Feehan and Bennett. |
