Additional Comments: Wandaalit contained legendary ex-Lions Ari Arvila and Vesa Pennanen (and I’ve a feeling Ismo Rokala may have surfaced for the Lions at one point too). A rare penalty shot was awarded to Wandaalit at 59:13, which was fired by Timo Tuokkola past Russ Jackson to become the Finnish team’s 13th goal. Lee Valley managed to score 3 powerplay goals and 1 short-handed goal in amongst their 18 in total. Both goalies of both teams played approximately half the match each, Vesa starting the match for Wandaalit. The previous night Wandaalit had played Telford Tigers and had thrashed them 16-5, which just goes to show what a good result this was for the Lions. |
