Additional Comments: Lions may have won their home leg of this Challenge against Romford but sadly on the road it was not to be, the Raiders maintaining a consistent performance throughout. Ex-Lion Tari Suwari clashed with Jon Beckett at 29:04, both receiving 2-mins for Delaying the Game. Future Lion Shaun McFadyen clashed with Jon Beckett at 34:10, Jon receiving 2-mins for Roughing, McFadyen 2-mins for High Sticks. Romford had a goal disallowed at 08:45, but being assured of a win in the final period the Raiders finally changed their netminder from Russ Jackson (another ex-Lion, but then so was Chris Leggatt!) to Paul Cast at 52:16, the Lions only managing to score one goal after the change-over. Although Lee Valley called a Time-Out at 36:40 and went on to score another 2 goals during the second period the score at 40:00 was 4-10 already and us fans knew we’d be going home disappointed. Still, it was Romford, which meant we could rib their fans no end and chuck loads of torn up newspaper everywhere, so things weren’t all bad! Referee was McLaughlin, Linesmen were Ford and Crouch. |
