Additional Comments: Our very last game of the 1988/89 season and what a one to end on! I fondly remember this game as being one of the most satisfying and frustrating games of all time. The Lions had gone 0-5 down and it looked like we’d totally blown it once again, our situation made all the worse by the fact we were losing to our arch rivals. However, Lions got their act together in the second period and we went from being 5 goals down to beating Romford by 4 goals. Fantastic game!!! The match programme included an article by Terry Locks, that said we were destined to drop into the English Division One the following season, after finishing 4th from bottom in the league this season. As we all know, this never came to be, and throughtout their existence Lions never once suffered the humiliation of relegation, despite being perilously close on a number of occasions! Referee was Moore, Linesmen were Hawkes and Mason. |
