Additional Comments:

Although Lions had a goal disallowed at 21:45 due to the net being off its moorings this wouldn’t have had much of an effect on the annihilation caused by Blackburn Hawks over a heavily depleted Lee Valley.

However, Steve James wrote in the programme that “this has probably been the worst week that I have experienced whilst running the hockey team.” The reason being that three imports (Craig De Blois (“Pies”), Andrew Dickson and Al Brown just upped and left the team in the lurch, giving no notice whatsoever.

Fans realised all was not well at the Solihull away game, where the attitude of these imports was disgusting. At the end of that game I sat with Coach Linsay Miles, who was in tears.

To make things worse at the time there were also doubts over Darcy staying and the threat of Peterborough recalling on-loan superb goalie Simon Wren.

With morale being what it was and such a shortage of imports the results of this game were not surprising.

Referee was Plaistow, Linesmen were Feehan and Millar.
