Additional Comments:

Darcy and Fred worked well together for this game, sharing the stats on no less than 9 of the 10 goals!!! Darcy ended the game just short of Fred’s total, with 3+6, although mention must also go to Adam Anderson, who had a cracking game, scoring 1+5.

The Lions were having an easy time of it and relaxed a little too much during the second period because from 37:52 Chelmsford managed to score 3 goals (“garbage goals” according to the match report in the programme!) in just 72 seconds. This meant that by the 40:00 buzzer Lions’ were just 1 goal ahead, at 5-4. Steve must have given the team a bit of a bollocking because they were back to being all fired up in the third period and our win was no longer to be in question.

Although the Chieftains called a Time-Out at 55:36 they were already trailing 5-9 and of Lions’ 10 goals 3 were Power Plays and 1 a Short-Handed goal. Chelmsford changed netminder at 58:28, James Grindlay apparently injured.

Referee was Plaistow, Linesmen were Bennett and Dadswell.
