Additional Comments:

The Islanders got the first goal of the game at 03:39 with league-topping goal-machine Ross Mackintosh finding the back of the net, assisted by Man of the Match David Micheli. Dan Sampson and Adam Holloway were both sent to the sin bin at 07:57, Sampson for slashing and Holloway for roughing.

Controversy came at 16:50 when the Lions’ new Hungarian signing, Matyas Vas, receiving 2+10 for checking to the head. The other Vas, Romanas Fedotovas, found himself on the receiving end of similar treatment later in the game but the perpetrator went unpunished.

The Lions held the Islanders at bay until 20:53 when Ross Mackintosh struck again, again assisted by Micheli and also Adam Reynolds. Less than a minute later at 21:39 it was the Lions’ turn to score, the goal being courtesy of Richard Hodge, assisted by Kwabina Oppong-Addai and Scott Beeson.

31:15 saw David Micheli score for Peterborough. This was soon followed at 34:27 with a goal scored by Clint Herring, assisted by brother combo Grant and Fraser Hendry. Adam Reynolds received a 10-mins penalty at 38:45 for abusing an official, while a slip-up just 1 second from the buzzer saw the Islanders get a bench minor for having too many men on the ice.

The final period saw a total of 6-mins penalties against Peterborough and just 2-mins against the Lions, but no goals for either side, leaving the final score as 4-1 to Peterborough Islanders. Having faced no fewer than 50 shots Stefan Nubert deservedly won Man of the Match for the Lions.

Referee was Dodsworth, Linesmen were O’Neill and Meekison.
