Additional Comments: Although Mark Smith and Dave Ducharme scored magnificent goals at 11:42 and 14:11 respectively nothing could be done to catch up Richmond, even though we’d ended the first period 4-3 up. The Flyers really came alive during the last period, outscoring us 5-1, even though we’d gone into the final period by changing goalies from Ian Cade to Bob Mitura. The programme noted that the Flyers had “changed the face or faces of their squad considerably, they are not the Flyers we know so well.” We didn’t score any Power Play or Short-Handed goals, whereas the Flyers scored no less than four Power Plays and one Short-Handed goal during this match. Although Doug McEwen was awarded the Man of the Match award I noted in the programme at the time that I felt the winner should have been Dave Ducharme, who’d had a sparkling game. Referee was Bain, Linesmen were Eccles and Naylor. |
