Additional Comments: Both teams scored 3 Power Play goals. Tony Goldstone received 10-mins plus a subsequent 5-mins penalty for Cross Checking (the 5-mins being served by Robby Morris), while Russell Jackson (ex-Lions keeper) received a 2+10 for Unsportsman-like Conduct, which was served by Andy Leggatt (another ex-Lion). Staff, brokers and families from British Engine were there to watch the game and a collection was made on behalf of brief Lions import, Jeff Carter, who’d expected to find his parents waiting at the airport when he got home. Sadly they’d been involved in a serious car accident on their way there and were both in intensive care. The first page in the match programme mentioned the following… “In response to the advice from one of our supporters, we tried to sack the team but no-one else would have them, and we asked Terry Locks to come back but he hasn’t stopped laughing long enough to answer us yet.”!!! Referee was Lawley, Linesmen were Mahoney and Iwayn. |
