Additional Comments: A game full of silly penalties, with 12 of Lions’ 16 penalty minutes attributed to Roughing (Chieftains were served with only 2 minutes!). Steve James mentioned in the following week’s programme that the team’s performance was “extremely poor”. He attributed it to the fact that they had felt Chelmsford had little credibility and their preparation for the game reflected this. At the end of the 2nd period both teams were tied at 3-3. However, Lions frequent penalties in the final period may have contributed to the Chieftains running away with the game, scoring 5 goals in that last period, compared to the Lions’ 1. Chelmsford actually had a goal disallowed at 39:45 due to a player in the crease. Referee was Cloutman, Linesmen were Dadswell and Feehan. |
