Additional Comments:

Our last home game against Medway for the season, but we still couldn’t record a win. Medway had Gary Brine guesting for them between the pipes in place of Dean Russell-Samways, who was in Lillehammer at the time. Gary Brine started the game but was replaced by Russ Jackson at 40:00.

Lee Valley scored two Power Play goals on the trot, at 24:37 and 38:32. Fred Perlini scored both of these. He then scored the next goal too, making it his hat-trick at 51:12. Medway also scored two Power Play goals on the trot, then had a further one at 32:33. Of Medway’s 14 goals, five of these were unassisted, three by Luc Chabot, the other two by Derek Switzer.

The Lions had a goal disallowed at 14:55, supposedly due to “high sticks.” I had written in the programme at the time that this was a very unfair call, but it was made worse by the fact that Paul Grech and Robin Andrew both received 2-mins for Unsportsmanlike Conduct for protesting about it!

On a personal level this was the very first time that my brother, Scott Bonner, got a tiny bit of senior league ice time as Lee Valley changed netminder at 58:29, from John Matassa to him!

Referee was Cloutman, Linesmen were Ashraff and Norcott.
