Additional Comments: An embarrassing defeat at the hands of local “rivals” the Romford Raiders (Romford Scumbags as they were “affectionately” known to some), Lions were nothing if not consistent in their goals – scoring just 2 per period. Lions’ 12 minutes of penalties in the first period probably cost them dearly, leaving them trailing 2-4 by 19:01. Nicky Iandoli had an amazing (amazingly annoying) game for the Raiders, scoring 6 of their 11 goals. The Romford team included ex-Lions Jim “the Wanderer” Graves, Tari Suwari and Ronnie “Benalyn” Evans-Harvey. Peculiarly, Lions’ Craig “Pies” de Blois began the game wearing a #20 shirt, but changed to #27 by the start of the 2nd period! Referee was Cloutman, Linesmen were Long and Bassett. |
