Additional Comments: The Lions could have run away with this match, leading by a convincing 7-3 by 38:20. Unfortunately the goal wasn’t to see the back of the Streatham net again, giving the Redskins ample opportunity to make for a tight finish. In fact, Streatham thought they’d scored an extra goal at 34:19 but luckily for the Lions this was disallowed as the shot had been fired after the whistle had already been blown. Both teams scored 2 Power Play goals, Al Brown and Andrew Dickson for the Lions and Peter Collins and Thomas Johansson for the Redskins. Both teams also called Time-Outs, the Lions at 56:31 and the Redskins at 59:17. No goals were scored as a result of either! The player/manager for the Streatham Redskins was Tony Goldstone, following in his father Alec’s footsteps. Both Goldstone brothers had previously played for Lee Valley Lions and Steven Paris would also play for the Lions after Streatham’s demise. The Streatham team for this match included no less than 3 Collins brothers. Referee was Moore, Linesmen were Dadswell and Feehan. |
