Peterborough Pirates were promoted to the Premier Division, while Bournemouth Stags, Oxford City Stars and Irvine Magnum Wings were relegated to Division 2. Tied teams were separated by the results of the games between them. Telford Tigers and Bournemouth Stags had points deducted for icing ineligible or unregistered players.
Janne Lehti was the Lions’ highest scoring player of the season, amassing a total of 103 goals and 78 assists (and Janne was a Defenceman!). Janne also scored the highest number of goals in one game, 12, and the highest number of points in one game, 21, against Swindon on 8th March 1987.
In the same game Lee Whale became the British player scoring the highest number of assists in one game, 7, and the highest number of points, 10. Lee was also the British player with the highest number of assists over the course of the season, 38.
The January game against Slough saw the Lions get their highest number of penalty minutes for the season, 67, while Andy Leggatt got the highest number of penalty minutes in one game, 30, at Southampton on 1st February 1987.
